JD(S) rally and unnecessary heartburn in Bangalore
JD(S), the venerable Deve Gowda's party, decided to hold a rally at Bangalore on Monday 17th November 2008. The resulting traffic mess was so enormous that people were stranded on roads for hours. My son, aged 7 years, came back home hours after he left school, tired, hungry and off mood. We didn't know where the school bus was stuck and after several distressing calls to the driver and the conductor were told the location. It was harrowing for both children and parents and was totally unnecessary. What were the authorities doing? How could they allow such a big rally on a working day? That too in the middle of the city?
The JD(S) chief gives an apology “Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy have appealed to the public to pardon us and the party”. Mr. Gowda and son, you will not be pardoned. The only way you will learn is by losing the elections again.
And Sirs, Commissioner of Police, Chief Minister, etc. please ensure that rallies are not held within Bangalore city henceforth. The city's infrastructure cannot bear this. It is wise to ban political parties' rallies inside city limits and keep it to the outskirts. We don't need to attend rallies of netas who don't care about us, the common people.
